Yohji Yamamoto

Yohji Yamamoto, fashion designer, debuted in Paris in 1981 and is considered a master tailor winning many awards for his contribution to the fashion industry. With an avant-garde style and Japanese influence, Yamamoto creates designs far removed from current trends. His oversized silhouettes often feature drapery in varying textures and are predominately made in black, a colour which Yamamoto has described as “modest and arrogant" at the same time. Black is lazy and easy - but mysterious and above all, black says "I don’t bother you - don’t bother me". - Yohji Yamamoto
