From Ulysess de Santi brings midcentury like none other. Eisler & Hauner Armchair 1950s Metal and Upholstery Martin Eisler and Carlo Hauner, both established immigrants in Sao Paulo, founded the brand Forma in 1954. Eisler was born in Vienna in 1913 and studied architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Hauner was born in Italy in 1927 and studied industrial design at the Brera Academy in Milan. Also participating in the start of the brand was the designer Ernesto Hauner and the illustrator Georgia Mopurgo, that later founded the brand Mobilinea. Forma began as Galeria Artesanal, inaugurated in 1952, that sold furniture designed by Hauner and Eisler, and produced by the factory Paubra, previously owned by the couple Lina Bo and Pietro Maria Bardi. Their partnership lasted for only a few years, since Carlo Hauner’s returned to Italy, but that time period was marked by the design of armchairs with metal legs. In the 60s and 70s, under the direction of Eisler, Forma prospered with corporate demands of public buildings in Brasilia, producing great quantities of furniture under the license of the brand Knoll; with some original pieces from Forma, included in the contract of the American brand. Martin Eisler left the company in 1979.
